Butter enough slices of bread, on both sides, to cover the bottom of a pan or dish. I like to cut off the crust before I put on the butter.
Cover the bread with 21/2 cups of cheddar cheese.
Beat six eggs until well scrambled. Add two cups of milk and blend together. Pour this blend over the cheese and bread gently, not just in one place.
Cover this and let it sit in the refrigerator over- night if possible. Let it sit for at least eight hours though.
Preheat your oven at 350 degrees.
While preheating, fry several slices of bacon to crisp. You can always use cut up ham. Crumble these over the top of the bread and cheese. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes or until set. Enjoy!
EGG NOG
What you will need:
12 eggs separated
1 cup of sugar
1 quart of milk
1 cup of bourbon (more or less to suit)
1 cup of rum (more or less to suit)
1 quart of heavy whipping cream
Beat the egg yolks slightly, adding the sugar a little bit at a time. Beat until smooth.
Pour in the milk, bourbon and rum and mix thoroughly. You will need to chill this for several hours. Go ahead and chill the egg whites as well.
Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold this into the egg yolk mixture. Don’t mix…fold. Beat the heavy whipping cream until you have whipped cream. Fold this into the mix as well. Don’t mix…fold. This should make about twenty-five servings. This recipe can be halved or quartered. Sprinkle nutmeg on top!
